CAR
The journey by car takes an hour off-peak and up to two hours in rush hour. Enfield is the worst bottleneck because traffic branches off here. Closer to Dublin, tailbacks build up at Lucan and at the M50 roundabout. The quays are always a crawl. When the new motorway is open in 2005, the journey will improve.
TRAIN
There is no station in Kinnegad, but some commuters drive to Enfield and catch the 7.10 a.m., which gets into Connolly station at 8.19 a.m. Going home, the 5.15 p.m. arrives in Enfield at 6.14 p.m. and the fast 6.20 p.m. train arrives at 7.03 p.m. An extra train on Friday leaves Connolly at 5.05 p.m. and gets to Enfield at 5.48 p.m. A weekly ticket costs £23.
BUS
Just one bus leaves Kinnegad in time for a nine o'clock start. The 7.00 a.m. service arrives in Dublin at 8.40 a.m. There are hourly buses in the evening from 5.00 p.m., scheduled to get to Kinnegad in 60 minutes although traffic can make this longer. The weekly return fare is £21.
