Two Dublin pubs sold for over £3 million last year. The Blue Haven at Ballyroad road, Templeogue, Dublin 16, which was sold at a John P Younge auction for £3,050,000, had a turnover of £679,441 in the year up to March, 1998. In Lucan, Morrisseys secured in the region of £3.6 million for the Polly Hops after it was withdrawn at auction at £2.9 million. It had a gross turnover of almost £2 million in the 12 months up to April last.
Another bar, The Captains Inn at Main Street, Leixlip, Co Kildare, made close to £3 million after it was withdrawn at a John Younge auction at £2 million. It had a turnover of over £1 million in the year to December last.
In Navan, agent Raymond Potterton is understood to have secured in excess of the guideline price of £1.2 million for Robby O'Malley's Bar at Watergate Street when he sold it prior to auction. It had a turnover of £800,000 to December last.
In Galway, The Twelve Pins at Barna was withdrawn at £2.3 million and sold later by Gunne.
The Vatican bar in The Square, Kildare, also changed hands last week when it was sold prior to auction for over £1.75 million by John Younge.
