THE OWNERS AND tenants in a 1950s apartment development along Howth Road near Sutton in Dublin 13 may shortly be given the opportunity to grow their own vegetables on site.

The three-storey Mariner’s Court stands on an extensive site overlooking the coast and has large unused lawns at the rear. Owners have now been asked to indicate whether or not they want to use the garden to grow spuds and herbs.

Wyse property manager Deirdre O’Leary says that so far only two out of the 42 owners have voted to cultivate the grounds. “We are concerned that any plots opened there should not end up overgrown, unkept and unsightly as it would mean that funds would have to be spent on sorting it out.”
