Dún Laoghaire: €800,000: Bold colour and exquisite period detail are some of the hallmarks of 59 York Road in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin, a double fronted villa-style period house. Lisney is quoting a guide of €800,000 for the house which is to be auctioned on May 19th.

One of the most stunning rooms in this four-bedroom house is the dramatic blue entrance hall set off with ornate white ceiling coving, two centre roses and the original painted timber floor. The saffron sitting room of this 139 sq m (1,500 sq ft) house has a cosy but elegant feel with a high ceiling, a mahogany surround fireplace with cast-iron inset and a polished timber floor. Double doors lead to a large study with ornate cornice work, a picture rail and fitted shelving.

The pretty two-tone diningroom has a polished timber floor and a green painted fireplace. The kitchen has a mix of cupboards, presses and shelving, as well as a single drainer stainless steel sink.

The main bedroom is an elegant room with an en suite bathroom. Two of the remaining three bedrooms have shelving. A shower room has a step-in shower and part tiled walls. The understairs storage area is plumbed for a washing machine and has a door to the rear landscaped town garden with timber decking on several levels and a cobblelocked redbrick patio. There are separate entrances to both levels of the house and double glazed windows throughout.
