The prolific Dublin-based developer and contractor Walls Group has being adding to its bulging portfolio by buying its first development site in the UK.

Despite repeated denials earlier this month that it had any interest in the property, Walls has snapped up London Scottish House in Manchester city centre for a reported £20 million (€29.4 million) - at least £4 million (€5.9 million) over the guide.

Walls, who bought the building from London Scottish Bank, intend to demolish the modern building and replace it with a landmark development.

Meanwhile back in Dublin, Walls has been involved in a proposal to redevelop the John Player Cigarette Factory on South Circular Road into 484 residential units and retail space.
