80 homes proposed for site at Nutgrove Avenue in Rathfarnham
Developers M and N O'Grady are looking to build 80 residential units at Nutgrove Avenue in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14 and on a disused hockey pitch that was formerly part of the Loretto national school.
The proposal involves the demolition of number 54 Nutgrove Avenue, an end-of-terrace house to provide pedestrian and vehicular access to the development, and the construction of 36 terraced and detached houses, as well as a bungalow and 44 two-bedroom apartments in six three-storey attached blocks.
Green light for conversion of Ballintyre Hall to apartments
Ray Grehan's Glenkerrin Homes has been granted planning permission to convert and extend Ballintyre Hall, a protected structure, on Ballinteer Avenue, Dublin 16.
This would provide nine apartments in a mix of one-bed, two-bed and duplex apartments and remove outbuildings in a central courtyard and to the west of the stables. It would also involve the removal of a greenhouse and a garden wall. Glenkerrin is also looking to build two three-storey blocks fronting Ballintyre Meadows with 19 apartment units.
Board rejects Donegal scheme
An Bord Pleanála has refused planning permission for a change of use of Carnagarve House, a protected structure in Moville, Co Donegal from residential to hotel use. Regatta Developments Ltd and Red Sails Development Ltd were looking to build six self-catering cottages, six dormer houses and build a new entrance.
However, the board ruled against the development saying that, because of the water table and "poor percolation characteristics" of the ground, as well as the close proximity to Lough Foyle, the site cannot be drained satisfactorily by means of a proprietary wastewater treatment system and raised percolation area, and the development would present an unacceptable risk of water pollution and would be prejudicial to public health.
An Bord Pleanála said the five dwellings proposed for the north and north-west of Carnagarve House would intrude significantly on the open character and setting of the house and the walled garden.
