There will also be sports pitches, exercise areas and a site for a sports centre which would include swimming pool located to the east of the existing leisure centre on Hole in The Wall Road. Recreational facilities would include play areas, picnic areas and a skateboard park, and the main street between Hole in the Wall Road and the Beaupark development would be widened to provide four carriage ways, wide footpaths and controlled crossings.

The proposal includes an ornamental lake with a 12-metre water feature and lakeside seating. Five 25-to-32 metre wind turbines would be located centrally. The plans are currently available for inspection at Dublin City Council and Donaghmede Library. The deadline for submissions or observations is June 23rd.

Cunamh Teoranta's plans to redevelop the Salesian House site at St Teresa's Road in Crumlin, Dublin 12 have been appealed to An Bord Pleanála. It was looking to build four blocks of 49 apartments rising to six storeys, refurbish the existing Salesian house, a protected structure and build a new three-storey Salesian house as a residential institutional building.

Seven parties have lodged third party appeals saying the development is out of character with St Teresa's Road where there are mainly two storey houses and would be obtrusive for both the public using Stanaway Park and surrounding residents. Traffic and the impact on a protected structure were other concerns.

Green light for scheme at castle

An Bord Pleanála has given the thumbs up to a development at Kilronan Castle at Castletension Demesne in Co Roscommon. Kilronan Estate holdings has permission to change the use of the castle from residential to hotel use to provide 81 bedrooms and to build a leisure centre and around 60 holiday homes - it originally sought to build 110 holiday homes.

There will also be a conference centre with a link connecting it to the hotel. Clean Ltd, An Taisce and Tom and Mary Hunt appealed the scheme. But An Bord Pleanála granted planning permission saying it would not have an adverse impact on Kilronan Castle.
