U2 man applies for improvements: The Edge - aka Dave Evans of U2 - is looking to make a few improvements to the house he paid more than €10 million for in 2002.
He wants to block up the existing entrance of Fortlands on Killiney Hill Road and open a new entrance off the avenue leading to Villa Maria, providing a new driveway and gate opening. He also wants to reposition a portion of the south-west corner wall to give improved sight lines and to raise the south wall and part of the west boundary wall by 1.5 metres.
Evans bought Fortlands when his bid to extend his previous Dalkey home was rejected by An Bord Pleanála. Fortlands is set on three acres of gardens. It was sold to the Edge by New York-based multi-millionaire Sean Melly.
Offices/homes on old Smurfit HQ
The former Jefferson Smurfit Group headquarters in Clonskeagh will be turned into a major residential and office development if Pamarette Ltd gets planning permission for the site.
Pamarette, whose directors are Simon Kelly and Brian McCormack, is about to lodge a 10-year planning application for 479 residential units on the 4.53-hectare site. The proposal is also for a 57,293 sq m (616,696 sq ft) development with four office buildings, a gym/community centre, crèche, a sandwich bar, and a new public plaza area and two basement car-parks with a total of nearly 900 car-parking spaces.
There would be gated pedestrian access onto Greenfield Park and the UCD campus at Belfield, while the main access would be off Beech Hill.
Mixed scheme for D9
Dublin City Council has granted planning permission for a mixed residential, crèche and neighbourhood shop development beside the Regency Airport Hotel on the Swords Road, Dublin 9.
Regan Developments, whose directors are James McGettigan, Brian McGettigan, Maureen O'Connor and Patricia McGettigan, propose a seven and three-storey over basement stepped development which would involve the demolition of Seasons restaurant and the construction of 44 apartments, a crèche and neighbourhood shop.
