Tralee mosque appealed

Tralee residents are opposing a proposal by the Kerry Islamic Cultural Centre to convert a house in Killerisk Road into a mosque. Two groups of locals have appealed to An Bord Pleanála, citing that any development in the area would increase the already heaving traffic on the road since the opening of Manor Business Park. "With the passage of time, the attendance at this mosque will probably increase sharply from what is envisaged right now," said one appeal. It went on to say that the Cork Muslim Society is seeking more suitable premises "as so many complaints were made to the corporation regarding the manner which the Muslims park their cars when they attend the mosque".
