Rathmines cinema appealed AN APPEAL to An Bord Pleanála regarding the redevelopment of the Swan shopping centre in Rathmines by Sawbridge Ltd into a three-screen cinema says the old vacant site of the Stella cinema would be more suitable for a cinema complex.
RAB Management Ltd says its apartment blocks are across the road from the shopping centre at Castlewood Close and there has been no consultation with residents. Among the concerns are traffic coming from the shopping centre late at night, loitering and anti-social behaviour, and a shortage of parking in the area. They say they constantly endure nuisance parking by outsiders who block their entrance.
Ben Dunne in centre appeal
BUSINESSMAN BEN Dunne is opposing a plan by Green Property to build a three-storey retail and food court scheme on the Yellow Car Park of Blanchardstown shopping centre as part of an extension to the Yellow Mall.
The 32,082sq m (345,327sq ft) scheme includes a major store, 17 smaller shops, eight external shops and restaurants, and a food court.
In his appeal, Dunne says the scheme does not contribute to the policies and objectives of the Blanchardstown town centre master plan and the proposed road layout will contribute to a haphazard, private vehicular dominant environment. Leisureplex has also appealed the proposal saying there is an inadequate provision for mother and child, disabled, coach, taxi and motorbike parking.
