Dublin City Council says yes to plan for Iveagh Markets site:Dublin City Council has given the all clear to a controversial mixed-use scheme in the Liberties but has attached strict conditions to the grant approval.

Businessman Martin Keane was seeking to build a seven-storey apart-hotel and retail units at the Iveagh Markets on Francis Street in Dublin 8.

Planners at Dublin City Council have given approval to the scheme but have stipulated that the 97-unit apart-hotel may not be used as self-contained permanent residential units and can only be used for letting periods of less than 90 days.

The council has also ruled that a passage linking Lamb Alley and Black Lane must be open to the public.

The basement levels of the Iveagh Markets or a proposed restaurant cannot be used as a public house or nightclub, according to planners, who have also requested that five of the apart-hotel units be turned into retail units.

Apartment development for garage site on Roebuck Road approved

O'Malley Homes's plan for an apartment scheme at the former Shell garage on Roebuck Road, Dublin 14, has got the thumbs up from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

The Galway-based developer intends to demolish the petrol station to make way for 26 apartments in a new four-storey building on the 0.18-hectare site.
