One-off auctions are still proving a good way for some vendors to maximise value: we’ve reported several properties selling somewhat over their AMVs in recent weeks. Now docklands agent Owen Reilly reports that a two-bedroom duplex penthouse at 104 Windmill Lane, just off Sir John Rogersons Quay, made €330,00 at auction, €80,000 more than its €250,000 reserve.

Its in a great spot of course – the penthouse has river views – and comes with car parking and a caretaker.

Meanwhile, all eyes next week will be on Walford, Ireland’s once-most-expensive house, on Shrewsbury Road. The large Edwardian house, which is now near derelict, was bought for €58 million in 2005 and is now for sale for €15 million through joint agents Lisney and Savills. The identity of the 2005 purchasers has never been revealed, but it is known that the beneficial owner is Gayle Killilea, wife of the erstwhile “Baron of Ballsbridge”, Seán Dunne. Its for sale by tender and the agents say that they’ve had serious interest . It is rumoured no less than nine tenders have been received so far. The deadline is October 27th.
