Major revamp on the cards for Blooms Hotel in Temple Bar: Blooms Hotel in Dublin's Temple Bar is seeking planning permission for a major revamp.

Owner Martin Keane is looking to replace the existing hotel, Vat House Bar and Club with a nine-storey 153-bedroom hotel with a range of facilities, including a hotel bar and restaurant along with a nightclub, rooftop bar and landscaped terrace.

The redevelopment will involve work at numbers 3-6 Anglesea Street. Most of these buildings, along with numbers 12-15 and part of number 16 Cope Street, will be demolished to basement level.

The development will also involve the partial demolition of number 3 Anglesea Street, which is a protected structure. The front facade will be retained.

The new development will also include conference facilities, gym, snooker room, executive lounge, library, health and beauty spa.The proposed scheme will cover 8,663.5 sq m (93,253 sq ft).

Apartment scheme proposed for Shrewsbury Road site: A planning application for the demolition of two houses on Shrewsbury Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 and the construction of 12 apartments has been lodged with Dublin City Council.

Rivertree Property Development Ltd has applied for permission to demolish numbers 1 and 3 Shrewsbury Road to build a three-storey apartment complex. Plans include the development of 11 three-bed apartments and one two-bed apartment, along with a basement car-park and the construction of a new entrance off Shrewsbury Road.

Plan for apartments at Lucan's Foxhunter Pub rejected: Frank Towey of the Foxhunter Pub, Lucan has been refused planning permission by South Dublin County Council to develop land to the rear of the Foxhunter Pub into three apartment blocks consisting of 21 units.

Mr Towey's proposal was to construct a mix of one, two and three-bed apartments in two three-storey blocks and one two-storey block. He also intended to construct new perimeter fencing and a boundary wall, and 35 car-parking spaces.
