The US-based biotechnology company Genzyme has paid close to the asking price of £4.5 million (€5.7m) for a large industrial plant in Waterford IDA park formerly occupied by the makers of Ray Ban sunglasses, Luxottica. The 125,000 sq ft premises stands on 15 acres and the new owners have acquired an additional 17 acres from the IDA.

Hamilton Osborne King which, along with Mason Owen Lyons was involved in the deal, is also advising a large North American multinational looking for a site along the east coast.
