INTERIOR DESIGNER Bill Simpson chose eco-friendly furniture for the livingroom of the Watermint show apartment "in keeping with the ethos of the building", which has an A1 Building Energy Rating.

The feeling in the livingroom is one of Zen-like calm. Most of the furniture came from Environment Furniture (01 6360114 or environmentfurniture.com).

Environment Furniture uses reclaimed Brazilian peroba wood and responsibly-harvested Indonesian mahogany in its designs. The Santos Coffee Table is a blend of mahogany and peroba and costs €895.

The grey Cine Sofa, made from sustainable linen, costs €6,450. It is also available in recycled canvas from old truck tarpaulin.

The sisal rug came from the Crucial trading company (crucial-trading.com).

The teak bath in the bathroom is a real eco-statement piece and a million miles from the standard show-apartment bathroom offering. Produced from environmentally friendly timber, it came from UK furniture makers William Garvey (williamgarvey.co.uk). A single Geo bath costs from £3,700 (€4,765) and a double is around £4,700 (€6,052).

Teak is perfect for the precision work of making baths and sinks because of its durability and stability. The Geo design originates from the Japanese ofuro, a tub used for a long soak that warms and relaxes the body.
