The living and diningroom of 19 Belmont Avenue has a rich walnut floor which offsets the cooler blue-greys and purple-grey tones of the room and add warmth.
The floors came from the Hardwood Flooring Company in Sandyford (01 2948836). Prices start at around €81.36 per sq m (€7.56 per sq ft) to supply semi-solid walnut flooring, around €125.58 per sq m (€11.66 per sq ft) to supply solid walnut and from €148 per sq m (13.75 per sq ft) for engineered walnut board, which suits underfloor heating.
Rather than have a profusion of different woods, the table was custom made in walnut by young furniture maker Brian Cummins (087 2157270). A similar one would cost around €2,400. The low-hanging Judy light in the dining area came from Harriets House (01 6777077): in mocha linen with silk lining, it costs €495 and helps create atmosphere in the evening when the other lights are dimmed.
The sofa was bought in O'Hagan Design, 01 8724016) and the rug is from Duff Tisdall, (01 2051119). The owner says one of the most admired features in the house are the iroko sliding doors to the garden made by Y2K Wood Services (01 4013824).
