Taking on the sheer sales might and momentum of the Nissan Qashqai is no small thing to do. Nissan's family sized crossover has been selling faster than the Japanese company can turn them out pretty much since day one, and its domination of the marketplace has been unprecedented. Renault, having merged with Nissan some time ago, decided that it would give itself a head start in the Qashqai competition game by simply borrowing the Nissan's chassis and engines and plonking a more attractive body on top. This simple ruse has brought no small success, and the handsome Kadjar is a strong seller for Renault. It oddly feels rather bigger inside than the Nissan (in fact, it isn't any larger at all) but the layout and quality of the dashboard isn't quite as good as its Japanese bedfellow. You also need to avoid the dreadful EDC dual-clutch gearbox, but a manual Kadjar is a perfectly nice thing to drive.
