The legendary V-Max is reborn

As reported in last week's Bike News the legendary Yamaha V-Max has been reborn. The 2009 V-Max was initially thought to produce in excess of 200 bhp, but the official technical specifications reveal that the 1,679cc V4 engine actually produces 197 bhp at 9,000rpm with 123 ft lb of torque.

This cult bike has an aluminium frame, made in a diamond shape with radial-mounted six piston front brakes. Yamaha Motor Europe has set up an online reservation system which will operate on a first-come first-served basis.

Triumph's half-century

Triumph motorcycles is celebrating its 50th birthday this summer, and to mark the occasion they are customising two unique one-off designs of the famous British Bonneville.

Motorcycling movie star Ewan McGregor and motorcycle clothing designer Belstaff will work together on the designs of the machines, which will be auctioned to raise funds for Unicef.

McGregor's Bonneville will have a copper-plated tank, a Belstaff black-waxed cotton seat and side panel combined to create a look reminiscent of the days of daredevil biking actor Steve McQueen.
