Vmax set for a big day out

Yamaha is preparing to unveil its 2009 motorbikes at the Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show, on February 27th to March 1st.

The powerful and stunning VMax roadster will be topping the bill. The new model features an all-new 65- degree, 1,679cc V4 engine, lightweight aluminium chassis, five-speed transmission with a slipper clutch, wave-style brake discs with ABS and Brembo master cylinders, and complete suspension adjustability in both the front and rear. According to the show’s organiser Ruth Lemass this new bike is limited edition, with only 2,500 being produced this year.

Yamaha will also be launching the XVS950A, the 2009 R1 and the XJ6 Diversion motorcycles.

It features more powerful engines, new ESA II Electronic Suspension Adjustment, new HP High Performance options including 2D systems, and Moto GP styling.

BMW has also released pictures of its finished S1000RR superbike. The 175bhp motorcycle is set to race in the World Superbikes series and weighs in at 183kg dry with ABS, traction control and a high-tech camshaft.

It’s a newly developed motorcycle with a 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine that is very compact and lightweight.

The serial production BMW S1000 RR machine is expected to be unveiled in early summer.
