Across-Ireland charity run

This year's Across Ireland Run takes place this weekend. Bikers from all over Ireland will take part in this two-day run from Dublin to Galway to raise funds for the Irish Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Ulster Superbike Races begin

THE ULSTER Superbike Races will also take place this weekend at the Knockhill Racing Circuit.
The meeting includes races for the Ulster Superbike Championships and the Scottish Championships.
The series marks the beginning of the British Superbike Championship, World Superbikes and MotoGP.
Classes include Superbike, Supersport, Supertwins (650cc twins), Lightweight Supersport (400 4/s and 250 2/s), 250GP, 125GP and Sidecar. See: knockhill.com for details.

Electric chopper in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY Choppers has created an electric motorcycle. The Smart Chopper was commissioned by Siemens. It has a 60-mile range and top speed of 100mph with a single-speed clutchless transmission that delivers the power from a 27hp electric motor. The charging unit can be  plugged into any 110-volt socket and can charge the bike in five hours. The electric bike will be auctioned for charity in 2010.
