Cleaner, more efficient scooter

Yamaha unveiled the four-stroke Neo's scooter last week and now it has an added edge. According to Yamaha; its motor is electronically fuel injected for low C02 figures, excellent mid-range power and greater economy.

Yamaha says the Neo's has "a new sophisticated liquid cooled 50cc single cylinder four-stroke engine."

It is lightweight and compact, making it fun in stop-start city traffic. It also has a simple and easy-to-use electric start, auto transmission and 190mm front disc and drum brakes.

New Bavarian endurance bike

BMW unveiled its latest endurance bike, the G450 X Sport, last week. This new bike has been given a new single cylinder engine and a new swing arm.

According to BMW it will, "Deliver the sort of off-road traction dreams are made of."

Super-charged legend for sale

Bonham's Auctioneers are to sell the only supercharged Vincent Black Lightning motorcycle ever made.

According to Bonham's, it was "built to break the world speed record, it has been kept in totally original condition and is expected to sell for $400,000-$600,000 (€280,000-€420,000)".

In 1949 The Motor Cycle, a British bike publication, offered a trophy and £500 prize for the first successful all-British attempt on the World Speed Record for Unstreamlined Motorcycles.

Reg Dearden, purchased a Black Lightning, direct from the factory to have a purpose- built supercharger fitted but he never raced the machine.
