Harley buys MV Agusta Group

Harley-Davidson Motorcycles announced last week that it is acquiring the Italian motorcycle maker MV Agusta Group for $109 million, around €70 million.

MV Agusta makes a line of premium motorcycles under its brand name, and a range of lightweight motorcycles under the Cagiva brand.

The deal will help Harley-Davidson expand into the European market, as motorcycle sales drop in the United States. Harley-Davidson plans to continue to operate the MV Agusta Group from its headquarters based in Varese, Italy and the current chairman Claudio Castiglioni will continue in his role.

New CB1000R from Honda

Honda Ireland is launching its new CB1000R next month. It has a 1000cc Fireblade engine re-tuned and dropped into a naked frame.

The angular-looking motorcycle has 123bhp, a state-of-the-art exhaust, fully-adjustable forks and radial front brakes, an all-new single backbone frame, single-sided swingarm, and an all-digital dash and HISS burglar alarm.

The CB1000R is priced at €11,999 and is available in white, black and dragon green.
