Buell looks towards 2009

Buell has unveiled its new range for 2009. The new "café racer" 1125 CR Buell has the power of the Buell Helicon 1125 liquid-cooled 146hp V-Twin engine.

"It's got Clubman-style bars and a flyscreen instead of a fairing. Then we geared it down to optimise acceleration.

"With a class-leading, weight-to-horsepower ratio, the 1125CR takes streetfighter performance to a new level," according to chairman and chief technical officer at Buell Motorcycle Company, Erik Buell.

The new Buell XB Lightning Streetfighter motorcycles are powered by an air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm 1203 V-Twin engine and have a blacked-out frame.

The XB12Ss is fitted with the same supermoto-inspired suspension as the 2008 XB12STT, and the seat is lower on the 2009 XB9SX.All 2009 Buell XB models will be fitted with a Veyance Hibrex drive belt with Flexten Plus technology.

New Triumphs for next year

Triumph motorcycles has also unveiled its 2009 range. The all-new Thunderbird 1600 cruiser has a 100bhp, 1594cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine and a maintenance-free belt final drive with similar styling to the Bonneville America.

The Daytona 675 has performance updates derived from the World Supersport bike, and a revised nose cone.

The Street Triple R has suspension and brakes from the 2008 Daytona, and a sleek matt graphite and orange paint scheme.
