Well, the new iPhone 3GS is here and the main differences are that it is faster, has a better battery life, will allow you to shoot video and edit it and it also comes with a better camera (with 3.0 megapixels). It comes in two sizes – 16GB and 32GB – but you can still get the iPhone 3G as an 8GB device and that can be got free on some tariffs.

Much as we’d like to be cynical about the new device, this writer will be standing in line on Friday when it comes out.

Pack & Drive

Price: €166.91 (including delivery) Buy: micksgarage.ie

It’s time to pack up the car and head off on holiday. Instead of leaving all the favourite stuff behind, you can bring it in this easy to store roof box. The Pack Drive has a 330-litre capacity, is fully foldable – to take up minimal space when not in use – and has a three-layer PVC sheet design for guaranteed waterproofing. Heat-formed reinforcements hold the load in place, so you can pick it up, unfold onto your roof bars, fix with the easy fit system and start loading.

Microsoft Explorer Bluetrek Mouse

Price: €79.99

Buy: Harvey Norman, Peats, Click Soundstore

The difficulty with a mouse is that it doesn’t always work on all surfaces, so you can often get frustrated as you try and do some late night, erm, work in your kitchen.

Microsoft has offered a solution with this rather cool mouse which uses Microsoft BlueTrack Technology, so it works in more places than ever before, including on granite countertops, carpet – even on a wood table or a rough park bench. It also features glowing blue light effects.

Mobile Digital Scribe

Price: €90.99

Buy: play.com

The Mobile Digital Scribe allows you to take notes on paper and convert them into digital text at a more convenient time. The Scribe captures natural handwriting written on any sheet of paper up to A4 in size and then stores it in the receiver for upload to a digital file.

It’s easy to use for a left or right hander, and the Scribe will store up to 50 pages worth of notes, which makes it ideal for students or those who depend on handwriting for their job.
