Now we know: black is the colour of rage

The colour of the car you drive can reveal more about your personality than you might like to admit

The colour of the car you drive can reveal more about your personality than you might like to admit. So a new survey would have us believe.

According to the study, those at the wheel of a black car are the most volatile on the road and are far more prone to fits of road rage than other drivers.

Drivers of black cars are also said to be indecisive and more likely to get lost on their travels, according to the survey from the Smartnav division of information company Trafficmaster.

Drivers of silver-coloured cars are the best navigators and the most relaxed, with only 29 per cent likely to shout and swear at other motorists compared with 47 per cent of black-car drivers.

Red car drivers, traditionally considered the speediest on the roads, hardly rated a mention in the survey.

The survey goes on to claims that those driving blue or yellow cars cause more havoc. Motorists with yellow cars are most likely to fall out with their partner over map-reading, while drivers of blue cars are more inclined to blame their children for taking a wrong turning.

The survey was based on replies from 350 drivers. There was no mention of drivers whose car colour was determined by the colour of their money and the limited options on the second-hand market.
