Routes to avoid around the country
DUBLIN:
From Wednesday, August 9th to Sunday, August 13th, from 7am to 7pm, Simmonscourt Road will be closed, between Door H and Gate O of the RDS. Diversion routes:- Traffic on Merrion Rd for Donnybrook, diverts via Anglesea Rd.
Traffic on Anglesea Rd for Merrion Rd, diverts via Ailesbury Rd.
From August 8th, to November 5th, closure of Rathmichael Rd between Ballycorus Rd junction and Ferndale Rd jct, for laying a surface water sewer. Alternative route from Ballycorus Road via Bride Glen Road, Mullinastill Road, Ferndale Road and vice versa.
From Tuesday, August 8th, at 12pm until Tuesday, October 17th, at 6pm part of the road at Turvey Avenue, Donabate will close from junction with Portrane Road (Hearse Road), adjacent to the railway bridge, to junction with Newbridge Back Road for construction of a retaining wall. Alternative routes:
Traffic from Turvey Avenue to Donabate: via Newbridge Back Road - Portrane Road (Hearse Road) to Donabate.
Traffic from Donabate to Turvey Avenue: Via Portrane Road (Hearse Road) Newbridge Back Road to Turvey Avenue
WICKLOW:
On August 8th , 9th and 10th works on the central median of N11 at Newtownmountkennedy to Ballynabarny from 7am to 7pm. Traffic restrictions, but work will be halted in peak times.
OFFALY:
On August 5th and 6th, Castle Palooza in Charleville Castle, Tullamore. From Dublin take N4/N6 (West) to Galway and follow N4 to Kinnegad Bypass. There follow N6 for Galway and continue as far as Kilbeggan: at Kilbeggan take a left for Tullamore(N52). On outskirts of Tullamore follow signs for the town centre. Go through the town until the roundabout near the end.
WESTMEATH:
On August 5th and 6th, Hi:Fi Ireland at Belvedere House Mullingar, on the shores of Lough Ennell, 6km from Mullingar. Expect congestion on N4 and N52 in particular.
GALWAY:
Until Sunday August 6th the Galway Races Summer Festival at Ballybrit racecourse. Race times:
Today: 1.50 - 6.05pm;
Thursday 3rd: 1.50 - 6.05pm; Friday 4th: 5.10 - 8.30pm;
Saturday 5th: 2.15 - 5.20pm;
Sunday 6th: 2.15 - 5.20pm, also Mad Hatters Day.
The Racecourse is approx 5km from Galway city and 3km from the airport. Gates open 2½ hrs before the first race each day. Entry points will be marked by yellow AA signs - The N6, the N17 and Parkmore.
SLIGO:
Old Market Street now one way south, and John F Kennedy Parade one way east. There is no exit from John F Kennedy Parade on to Bridge Street or Thomas St.
KERRY:
From August 10th to August 12th the Puck Fair in Killorglin, with 12 hours free family street entertainment. Delays likely on: N22 from Cork, N72 from Killarney and N70 from Tralee.
TIPPERARY:
Until Friday, September 1st, N24 Cahir/Clonmell Road at Molls Cross is closed. Temporary traffic lights and speed limits - minor delays expected.
