Routes to avoid around the country in the week ahead.

CORK:

Jack Lynch Tunnel and Little Island access road will be closed to normal traffic overnight from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on three successive nights from next Wednesday, October 9th to Friday, October 11th.

These closures are necessary to facilitate scheduled routine maintenance on the tunnel and its equipment.

The tunnel and its approach roads will be open to traffic as normal during the day.

Resurfacing is underway and will continue Monday to Friday until approximately November 13th along the N22 through the villages of Ballymakeera and Ballyvourney.

Single lane traffic with temporary lights will operate as needs be.

DUBLIN:

Resurfacing work will be carried out on the Ballyfermot Road between the Le Fanu junction and the Kylemore Roundabout between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day until Friday, .

There will be a traffic diversion for eastbound traffic (towards the city centre) during the works. The diversion applies to bus routes also. Bus users should also note that there is a temporary bus stop on the Le Fanu Road in place of the bus stop in front of the main shopping area on the Ballyfermot Road.

The Strand Road, Sutton Dart Station will be closed for several weekends for the purpose of constructing a portion of the North Fringe Pipeline under Station Road, Sutton. The roads will be closed from 6 a.m. on October 12th to 6 p.m. on October 13th, from 6 a.m. on October 19th to 6 p.m. on October 20th, and from 8 p.m. on October 25th to 7 a.m. on October 29th. The alternative route available for vehicular traffic is via Main Street, Baldoyle/Warrenhouse Road/Baldoyle Road/Dublin Road to Sutton Cross and vice versa. Local access will be maintained.

Steevens Lane near Heuston Station will remain closed until mid-January 2003 in order to allow LUAS works. Traffic will be diverted via Military Road, Bow Bridge and Bow Lane. Local vehicular access and full pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Ongoing LUAS works on Harcourt St and Cuffe St have left the road surface uneven. Motorists are asked to drive with care. Lane restrictions are leading to delays for all local traffic at peak times, in particular during the evening rush hour. Journey times on local bus routes face an extra 10 to 20 minutes.

Slate Cabin Lane, Sandyford will remain closed until Sunday due to traffic calming works all day. Local access will be maintained at all times.

LOUTH:

Ongoing works will continue on the N1 north of Drogheda at the edges and in the centre of the road until approximately October 3rd.

WICKLOW:

The road between Rathnew and Glenealy will be reduced to one lane to facilitate construction of a bridge for the Rathnew bypass between 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. until the end of October.

KERRY:

Ongoing roadworks will continue on the N70 in Killorglin town (Upper Bridge Street) until November 4th 2002. Diversions are via Mill Road.
