Routes to avoid during the week ahead.
DUBLIN: Motorists are advised that with the schools back this week traffic volumes will significantly increase on most routes throughout the country.
Both the Airport and Citybound carriages on M1/N1 will close on Saturday and Sunday (September 4th and 5th) between Santry Slip Road and Coolock Interchange, from 2 a.m. on Saturday to 2 a.m. on Monday. This is for bridge beams to be lifted in safely.
The city-bound QBC and Santry Slip Road will remain open.
New traffic layout in Rathfarnam at the Tuning Fork, at junction of Whitechurch Rd, Ballyboden Rd & Willbrook Rd. Extreme caution is needed on all approaches to the junction.
Due to works on N7 between Maudlins and Rathcoole one lane will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. until September 14th.
Upper Kilmacud Road in Dundrum closed for work on footbridge until October 4th. A diversion is in place via Sydenham Road, Taney Road, Dundrum Road and Main Street. Local access will be maintained at all times.
WICKLOW: Road at Rosanna, Rathnew closed . Southbound traffic on N11 wishing to get to Wicklow Town, Rathnew, Glenealy and Rathdrum should continue to interchange at Ballinabarney, Rathnew where they will turn left and follow signs for Rathnew. Northbound traffic on the N11 wishing to travel on to Wicklow Town, Rathnew, Glenealy, Rathdrum, should turn off at the Bee Hive Pub.
Traffic from Wicklow Town and Rathnew, for Dublin should turn left in Rathnew and continue on the old N11 on to Ballinabarney Interchange. Traffic from Glenealy and Rathdrum for Dublin or Wexford turn right entering Rathnew on to the old N11 and on to the Ballinabarney Interchange.
WEXFORD: Major works on N80 at Carrigduff, Bunclody. Serious traffic delays will occur. Please use alternative routes if possible.
LAOIS: For completion of works at Ballydavis interchange and south tie-in of M7 Heath Mayfield motorway, the following roads will be closed:
1. Raheen Road (L-3811) from M7 motorway off-ramp at Ballydavis interchange in townland of Ballydavis to junction at the Old Post Office in townland of Raheenahoran. Access for residents along this section of road shall be maintained from the Old Post Office end only.
2. Existing M7 northbound on-ramp at Ballydavis interchange in townland of Ballydavis. This closure will not affect traffic already on the motorway travelling northbound.
3. Existing M7 southbound off-ramp at Ballydavis interchange in townland of Ballydavis.
GALWAY: Pipe laying on N18 between Claregalway and Oranmore, near Carnmore Cross, delays are expected.
Pipe laying on Barna to Galway Rd the R356, each day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day, traffic is to one lane.
KERRY: Major works out on Conor Pass Road from Kilmore Cross towards Conor Hill viewing until mid October. Traffic delays are expected. Motorists should use the N86 between Dingle and Camp via Annascaul as an alternative route.
CORK: Malparadise Walkway, Cathedral Walk, Cloyne will be closed from 8 a.m. today for laying of sewer and electrical pipe, construction of boundary wall, footpath and kerbing.
Carrigaline to Crosshaven Rd will be closed between O'Leary's Cross and Grand Hotel Apartments. Road will be opened each Friday at 9 p.m. until the following Monday at 9 a.m.
Main Street in Midleton will be closed on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5pm, and Sunday between 11.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m., for the Midleton Food and Drink Festival. The alternative route will be via Riverside Way and Drurys Avenue.
