Routes to avoid around the country
DUBLIN:
On Friday, September 22nd at midnight until midnight Saturday September 23rd, Belgard Square West in Tallaght closed for dismantling of tower cranes from Danninger Tallaght 1 Project Site. Alternative routes: via Belgard Square North, Cookstown Way, Old Blessington Rd.
From Monday, September 25th to September 26th, Mary St in city centre closed for refurbishment works. Diversions will apply.
On Blackthorn Drive there will be roadworks until November, from jct with Drummartin Link Rd to jct with Carman Hall Rd. Traffic Management Plan in operation. Expect major delays.
Until November 30th St James Walk closed. East: for Forbes Lane and Long's Place via St James's Walk diverts via South Circular Rd - Dolphin's Barn St - Cork St - Marrowbone Lane - Forbes Lane - Long's Place. West: from Long's Place en route to Kilmainham via St James's Walk, diverts via Forbes Lane - Marrowbone Lane - Cork St - Dolphin's Barn St - South Circular Rd. Traffic from Rialto diverts via SCR, Dolphin's Barn St, Cork St, Marrowbone Lane and Forbes Lane to Long's Place. Closure for service diversions and drainage works.
MEATH:
Until Friday, works on N3 in Navan, 8pm and 6am. Traffic single lane.
WESTMEATH:
On N62, major road works 1.6km north of Ballinahoun until end October.
GALWAY:
Until about October 15th, works on N17 through Milltown for laying of water-mains. Delays expected.
LONGFORD:
N63 closed from Killashee to Lanesborough until September 25th, with diversions from Lanesboro via Kenagh and Ballymacormack.
SLIGO:
Humbert St Tobercurry closed for pipelaying works.
KILKENNY:
N9 through Thomastown closed from Maudlin Court entrance to Logan St until approx October 6th. Dublin/ Waterford traffic: use N10 via Kilkenny. HGVs should avoid the town.
WATERFORD:
Youghal Bridge on N25 - one lane, temporary lights, maintenance work until late December. Delays up to 45mins expected during peak traffic.
CORK:
On Friday Laburnam Lawn closed from Wilton Rd to Bishopstown Ave, from 9.30am to 6pm for resurfacing.
RYDER CUP INFORMATION:
The 36th Ryder Cup matches take place in the K Club, Straffan, Co Kildare. Road closures include the practice days until tomorrow, and the competition dates, Friday 22nd to Sunday September 24th. Strict traffic management plan controlled by the gardaí will manage the crowds - up to 40,000 are expected per match day, with between 5,000 and 20,000 expected on practice days.
It is expected that the Main Gate will open at 6am each day and all Admission Gates will close at 3pm each day. Although the schedule is subject to change,these times are a good indication of peak times for traffic headed to Park'n'Ride locations on N4 and N7.
Road closures: There is a 2km exclusion zone with road closures. The following roads will remain closed:
1 Barberstown to Straffan village
2 Ardrass Church to Straffan village
3 Bawnogues to Straffan village
4 Bawnogues (at R403) to Ovidstown (boundary of the K Club Walls)
5 Longtown to Ovidstown
6 Longtown Cross to Straffan village
7 Castledillon (cul-de-sac) to Ballyhays (point on the Kill to Straffan Rd)
8 Tipperstown (Ardclough Village) to Clownings (point on the Kill to Straffan Rd)
9 Ponsonby Bridge (on Grand Canal) to Straffan village
10 Turnings (through Turnings Upper and past Old Morell Bridge) to Whitechurch Cross (point on the Kill to Straffan Rd)
11 Turnings (through Turnings Lower, past the entrance to the South Course) to Ladycastle Lower (point on the Kill to Straffan Rd).
