Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead

DUBLIN: On Saturday May 29th & Sunday May 30th , the Main Street in Lucan will be closed between the junctions of the Lucan Rd and Lower Lucan Rd. Closure from noon to 7 p.m. It is for the Italian Street Festival.

The Adamstown Road has been closed from Finnstown Priory Park to 300m west of the Canal Bridge until Sunday, June 20th for road resurfacing works and road repairs.

Saturday - Wednesday 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Thursday - Friday 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Diversions as follows: (A) Nangor Road, Fonthill Road South, Fonthill Road North, Fonthill Road North Westbound slip Road, Lucan Road, Lucan By Pass, Adamstown Road.

(B) Adamstown Road, Lucan By Pass, Lucan Road, Lucan Road Eastbound off ramp, Fonthill Road North, Fonthill Road South, Nangor Road.

On Saturday, the 10K Calcutta Run will take place. It will start at the Law Society at Blackhall Place at 2 p.m., going anti-clockwise to and through the Phoenix Park, and then back to Blackhall Place for 4 p.m. Traffic diversions and delays are likely along the route as 1,500 people are expected to take part. Between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., Serpentine Rd, Wellington Rd and Islandbridge Gate Rd will be closed.

During the same time Islandbridge Gate and Cabra Gate will be closed. Traffic will be halted at Mountjoy Cross, at the junction of Saint Mary's and Serpentine Road, and at the junction of Chesterfield Avenue and Wellington Road.

A race meeting will be held on the Leopardstown racecourse today, between 6.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Expect extra delays on the N11 shortly before and after the meeting.

MEATH: Race meeting at the Fairyhouse racecourse tomorrow between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. The racecourse is located between the main N2 and the N3, so expect delays on both routes.

KILDARE: Race meeting will be held on the Punchestown racecourse on the 28th of May between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Delays can be expected on the Naas to Ballymore Eustace Road (R411) and the N7 shortly before and after the race meeting.

KILKENNY: One-way system will be in operation on Patrick St from its junction with The Parade to its junction with Upper New St. The one-way system will be in operation until Monday June 14th.

This is for the undergrounding of ESB networks, public lighting, broadband crossings, footpath replacement and preparation works for road restoration. Traffic will flow from Upper New Street to the Parade.

A one-way traffic system will also operate on Upper New Street from Patrick St Church towards McDonalds. Strict parking restrictions will apply in these areas during the work's progress.

GALWAY: Roadworks on the main N18 in Gort and will continue until at least mid-July. The works will take place from Monday to Friday between 7.30 a..m and 7.30 p.m. They will take place between Gort & Ennis. A shuttle traffic system will be in operation.

LIMERICK: Major traffic diversion will operate on Lower Shannon Street/Henry Street until June 23rd.

The diversion will operate between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday to Fridays inclusive.

The Local Diversion Route will be signposted and traffic on route to the north of the city, i.e., (Ennis Road Condell Road) from O' Connell Street, Roches Street, Mallow Street, O' Connell Avenue and Henry Street should use the Shannon Bridge.

TIPPERARY: Works continue on the N7 near Birdhill, they will be in place for another three months. Traffic control measures are in place, and significant delays can be expected.

Roadworks on the Clonmel Inner Relief Rd near the Ballingarrane Roundabout. The works will last for approximately three weeks until mid-June. Traffic lights will be in operation.

The Dually Rd into Cashel will be closed until June 6th for essential works.

WATERFORD: Mall Lane has been closed and will remain shut until Tuesday, November 16th. Local diversions will be in operation.

Adelphi Quay has been closed until Saturday June 19th. Local Diversions will be in operation.

As part of works associated with the ongoing Dungarvan and Environs Sewerage Scheme, motorists are advised that there will be disruptions to traffic along Mitchell Street, Dungarvan from the junction with St Bridget's Street to a point 60 metres west of the junction with Wolfe Tone Road until mid-June.

Traffic control measures will be in operation throughout the duration of the works.

CORK: Major roadworks will be taking place on the South Ring Rd on the South side of the Jack lynch Tunnel until Friday May 28th. The roadworks will be located at Mahon Point. Lane restrictions will be in place for the duration of the works. Delays are expected.
