DUBLIN: From 3 p.m. today passengers can travel free on the new tram system until 8 p.m. There will be a tram every 10 minutes.

From tomorrow until Sunday July 4th services will continue to be free and will operate from 5.30 until 00.30 every day. Luas Customer Service staff will be available to assist with any questions you may have and to explain where and how to buy tickets.

The first day of normal operation will be next Monday. After that, all passengers must have a valid ticket before boarding. For an initial period trams will run every 10 minutes to allow traffic and passengers to become familiar with the new system.

Traffic is down to one lane between Wilford Interchange and Loughlinstown Roundabout on the northbound carriageway of M11, speed limit has been reduced to 40mph.

KILDARE: The Oxegen festival takes place at the Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare on Saturday and Sunday, July 10th and 11th. Expect heavy traffic on approach routes to the event on both days.

Also in Co Kildare, traffic is being re-aligned in Maynooth between Main St and Tesco on the Dublin Rd due to watermain works until the end of July. Works from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Because of the works, there is no parking on the section of roadway.

Use an alternative route if possible but there should not be too many delays.

GALWAY: Pipelaying on Barna/Galway Rd, R356, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until September. Traffic is down to one lane so expect delays. Resurfacing works are takingplace on the N6 between Athlone and Ballinasloe until Friday, July 9th Expect long delays.

Roadworks on the N18 at Gort, from Monday to Friday between 7.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. until mid-July. They will take place between Gort and Ennis. Diversions are in place for both north and southbound traffic.

WEXFORD: Works will commence on the N25 between Glenmore and New Ross between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation and long delays are expected.

The works will be in place until the start of August.

KERRY: Roadworks are in operation on the N70 Ballygamboon at Castlemaine until the end of August this year. A Stop/Go system and single lane traffic are in operation.

TIPPERARY: Works continue on the N7 near Birdhill - they will be in place for another two months.

Traffic control measures are in place and significant delays can be expected.

CORK: Patrick St will remain one way from Merchants Quay to Grand Parade to facilitate refurbishment works. Expected finish date is next month.

Until Friday there will be lane restrictions on Dyke Street and Sheare's Street, for resurfacing works

Traffic restrictions are in place on the N22 (Cork/Killarney Rd) at Ovens until next month. Lane width restrictions will be in place. The purpose of the Traffic Management Scheme is to build a pedestrian bridge as part of the Ballincollig Bypass Project.
