GE Capital Woodchester has launched a new car warranty product that will give mechanical and electrical breakdown insurance, including roadside assistance.
Cover is for up to three years. According to Richard Jenkins of GE Capital Woodchester the product should appeal to used-car buyers: "It extends the length of time a customer's vehicle is covered by warranty and there's additional peace of mind."
BEST-SELLING car in Europe last year was again the Volkswagen Golf. But the Golf's domination is being challenged by the Peugeot 206. The Golf had a total of 648,211 cars sold, compared with 633,453 for the 206.
AUDI is jubilant that it sold more cars than the BMW in Germany in 2001. According to Bernd Pischetsrieder, new VW group boss and a former BMW chairman, Audi deliveries to customers at 250,000 cars were 20,000 ahead of BMW.

Seat has announced two new dealerships to its network, J and P Seat in Cork city at Penrose Wharf, and Midlands Seat Lough Sheever corporate park in Mullingar Co Westmeath. J and P Seat is part of the Johnson and Perrott Group.
FIAT Auto (Ireland) Ltd has a new managing director, Michael Howe, formerly of Toyota Ireland. He replaces Paolo Gagliardo, who is now boss of Alfa Romeo in Italy.
HIS friends in the motor industry were saddened by the death last Friday of James Mulligan, managing director of Gowan Distributors, the Peugeot importers. A Dunfanaghy, Co Donegal man, he was wonderfully courteous and friendly. We remember his family and colleagues at this time.
