If you fancy your chances as a racing driver, Mondello Park is hosting a competition to win a season of racing in the 2014 Patch Fiesta Championship.
The contest, at the Co Kildare racing circuit on March 2nd, is open to drivers over 18 who have never held a car-racing or speed-competition licence. Contestants will compete in groups of nine for a place in the final. Each driver will do 10 laps in one of the circuit school’s Mazda3s, with an instructor alongside to guide them. The fastest driver from each group will progress to the final, at the end of the day.
The driver who sets the fastest time in the six laps of the final will go on to race in the 2014 Patch Fiesta Championship, the opening round of which is on March 16th. The championship comprises 10 rounds over six events between March and September.
The prize package includes attendance at a Motorsport Ireland race licence course, along with racing gear from Murray Motorsport: a race suit, helmet, gloves and boots will be theirs to keep. All running costs will also be covered, including provision of a car, testing fees, fuel and tyres, as well as ongoing coaching. Entry costs €129. mondellopark.ie.
