Describe what you're wearing

My usual skinny jeans by Superfine - they're the best - from TK Maxx. The striped jumper is by McQ, Alexander McQueen's second line - I got it in Harvey Nichols in Dundrum for €22. It was in a sale. The cropped military-style jacket was made specially for me by a designer in Hong Kong. My suede shoes are eight years old and they were part of my uniform when I worked for Dior. The blue socks are from H&M.

How much do you spend on clothes?

I can't say. I won't say. Sometimes I spend a lot.

Describe your style

Today it is smart casual. I love change and new things so I don't have a certain style and I don't follow fashion trends. I pick things that suit me and my mood. If I'm feeling good I wear colour. If I'm feeling bad, something dark or a tracksuit.

What's the difference in the way people dress in Dublin versus Hong Kong?

I think Irish people dress well, but they are conservative - we were wearing skinny jeans years before they were worn in Dublin, but things are improving here. Asians in general are adventurous and like trying something new and distinctive.

Were you always interested in fashion?

No, but I come from a single parent family and when I was growing up my mother would always ask my opinion and she still does. I love to dress up my mother, she is gorgeous and a beauty, a Latin dance teacher and my constant inspiration.

What other style icons do you have?

Kate Moss, that crazy woman, whatever she wears, she looks great.

Favourite fashion designer?

Philip Treacy's hats are amazing. I love hats and have loads of hats, but I don't wear them. I just like to keep them in my wardrobe. I love Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto, and I go to Korean fashion shows every year to see new young creative designers.

Where do you shop?

I could spend two hours in TK Maxx because I have to see everything very carefully. I wear things other people don't wear because I want to be different but not stand out.

Tell me about those glasses

I bought them for an '80s party in Hong Kong, but I usually wear contact lenses.

Who cuts your hair?

It used to be waist length and my signature, but I cut it because I told myself that I needed a change.

Do you hang on to your clothes?

I don't give anything away because when I buy things, it's because I love them and I think that one day I will wear them again. My clothes are like part of my body.
