The restaurant above Kavanagh’s pub on Main Street in Naas, Co Kildare, has passed through several incarnations in the past 15 or so years. It is now Bistro Sola and it is a real treat.
It’s all done up in bleached white, from the walls to the tables; it’s a great space and it is busier and buzzier than ever. The food isn’t bad either. The rib-eye steak – the meat de nos jours – is simply delicious. The beef is all organic and is dry-aged by butcher Richard Doyle in Rathcoole. Wild venison from the Wicklow hills is currently on the menu, but dishes change with the seasons. It is run by chef David Geoghegan and Tara O’Sullivan, who does front of house.
