THE SOCIAL NETWORK:It was something of a busman's holiday for Kim Burrowes at the premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman at the Odeon Cinema in the Point Village on Wednesday evening.
Burrowes, who works as a floor manager on Fair City, accompanied his girlfriend, Síle Seoige, to the film. He managed to orchestrate her arrival so that she breezed in just at the last minute. The excuse was the traffic at the Barry Manilow concert next door in the O2. Then Burrowes had to mingle with Fair City’s Aoibheann McCaul and Aoibhin Garrihy.
There’s no getting away from work. But Burrowes would have been used to talking shop while growing up. His father is the playwright and screenwriter, Wesley Burrowes, who gave us The Riordans and Glenroe.
The actor Charlene McKenna has been in Dublin since March filming Ripper Street for the BBC. Parts of Dublin have been transformed into the East End of London in 1889 for the series, which follows a group of detectives attempting to solve the Jack the Ripper murders. McKenna plays the role of Rose, a madam of a brothel.
She could not confirm that she will be in the new series of Raw. “I can’t really talk about it,” she told me. “My involvement isn’t concrete yet, with schedules and stuff I have coming up.” Today she is travelling home to Monaghan, for her nephew’s First Communion.
Fashion blogger Emily O’Donnell was looking forward to watching the clothes on the big screen. She was accompanied by Ross McDonnell, and emphasised that they were there as friends for the evening. McDonnell celebrated his 30th birthday last week, and O’Donnell decided to take him along for a treat. She was looking forward to celebrating her own birthday yesterday.
Devin Toner took some time out from training with Leinster, less than a week after he helped the province achieve rugby history. He was joined by his girlfriend, Mary Scott.
Sarah Morrissey was accompanied by fellow model Yomiko Chen. Morrissey told me she’s taking two weeks off in June to go on a mini-break in Italy before decamping to Spain for a few days.
