THE SOCIAL NETWORK:Gay Byrne was like Sir Joseph Porter, the first lord of the Admiralty in HMS Pinafore, on Thursday afternoon as he surveyed all he could see from the prow of the tall ship Danmark, where the National Lottery threw a drinks reception and buffet lunch to launch the new Winning Streak TV gameshow series.

Meanwhile, back on the weather deck, Geri Maye sported a great tan, which she got on her honeymoon in the Maldives. The co-presenter of Winning Streak got married to Peter Collins in December, but had to wait until this summer to go on honeymoon due to work commitments. “Six months after the event, we were really ready for it. It was lovely,” she told me.

Continuity announcer and Euromillions presenter Trevor Keegan has had a busy summer helping to produce Six in the City, which will be aired on RTÉ on September 13th. It features three couples living in three different Irish cities competing to host the best party. He’s also been working on Brendan Courtney’s new documentary Ladies’ Day, which follows the Irish racing’s 2012 summer season of best-dressed women competitions.

Sinéad Kennedy will miss presenting The Big Money Game; the last show in the series airs this evening.
