Better known for its duchesse satins and strapless bridesmaids’ dresses, Coast has taken a leap of faith in reinterpreting vintage dresses from the archives of London’s VA museum. Inspired by debutantes of the 1950s, the dresses are named accordingly: Blanche, Lottie, Phoebe and Daphne.

We like the Blanche (pictured on right) which retails at €695. But the real show-stopper is the Phoebe (pictured on left), which takes its cues from the 1950s photography of Norman Parkinson and Galliano Couture of the late 20th century.

It's a dead ringer for the Oscar de la Renta gown Amy Adams wore to last weekend's Oscars – although at €850, you'd want to have a similarly high-profile occasion to justify the purchase. Order from coast-stores.com
