Grafton Academy-trained fashion designer Maebh Walsh has opened a teaching studio in Stillorgan, Co Dublin. It is scattered with brightly coloured bean-bags and cushions, and an array of cloth Christmas crafts – advent calendars, tea-towels, aprons, chimney-stockings, table centrepieces. These are demonstration pieces for the day-long workshops that Walsh will be running at the studio today (adults) and December 11th (teenagers), which are devoted to Christmas crafts. Her advent calendars, with individually decorated pockets for hiding treats in and for counting down the days to Christmas, are a winner. Even better, they can be recycled year after year.
