There are Christmas fairs and markets taking place all over the country in coming weeks. The two big foodie events – Taste of Christmas at the National Convention Centre, Spencer Dock, North Wall Quay, Dublin 1, and the Food Wine Christmas Show at the RDS, Dublin 4, are both on today and tomorrow.

Santa arrives at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin 8 at noon today, and will be dropping in to the Christmas market there every Saturday until December 18th (10am-5pm). In Borris, Co Carlow you can visit Santa’s grotto today and tomorrow, and pick up some goodies at the craft fair. The Multidenominational School in Ranelagh, Dublin 6 is the venue for a craft fair tomorrow (11am-5pm) that promises “professional standards/market prices”. In Castlebar,

Co Mayo, there is a food fair at Rua cafe/deli in Spencer Street tomorrow (noon-4pm).

At Rossnaree House Christmas fair in Slane, Co Meath on December 11th you can have your portrait drawn by artist Sam Horler (book in advance with Aisling Law, 041-9820975), as well as browse stalls selling vintage clothes, jewellery, children’s clothes, hats, gifts and kitchenware. Duckett’s Grove, near Carlow town, is the atmospheric venue for a large-scale craft and food fair on Sunday, December 12th (noon-6pm).
