Dublin Civic Trust's Garden Squares Day takes place today, with free events in each of capital's five Georgian squares. Take a tour of St Stephen's Green with head gardener Eileen Brennan, learn how to dance the Argentine tango at the bandstand, or take an architectural tour of the Green by meeting at the Grafton Street gate, the Fusiliers Arch, at 3pm. A tour of the Iveagh Gardens commences at 1.30pm at the Harcourt Street entrance.

Children's events in Merrion Square kick off at noon. In Fitzwilliam Square (pictured) there is a watercolours demonstration, with materials provided, and lawn bowling. Architecture fans can, if they call 087-953 7959 this morning, or go to the organiser's office on Fitzwilliam Square, see how the other half lives on the Square. Tours of one of the finest private houses on the square take place at 1.30pm and 4pm.North of the river, a tour of the Rotunda Chapel takes place at 11am with Dr Conor Lucey; this has to be pre-booked on 085-721 7242.
