One of Dublin’s most popular family events, Africa Day in the Iveagh Gardens, will take place tomorrow with a range of games, sports and art activities for children.
Live music will feature a host of African and Irish performers, including Congolese musician Niwel Tsumbu and Irish musician Dave Flynn in a new collaboration. Other highlights on the main stage will be Choice Music Prize winner Jape and the Newpark Afro-Cuban Orchestra. Among dozens of other performances and things to do will be sampling traditional African food and drinks, and watching a cooking workshop by Rozanne Stevens, originally from South Africa and a regular on Pat Kenny's radio show. Róisín Ingle will be taking part in a discussion about the novel Things Fall Apartby Chinua Achebe at 4pm. Africa Day runs from noon to 7pm and access will be through the Clonmel Street entrance to the Iveagh Gardens (just off Harcourt Street). Public transport is advised as parking will be limited.
