THE SOCIAL NETWORK:At the launch of an audio collection, Stories from the Great Houses of Ireland, at the National Library on Wednesday, the historian Charles Lysaght informed us that he hated the term "Anglo Irish" and preferred "Irish gentry families". Olda FitzGerald was accompanied by her youngest daughter, Honor, who got engaged to Matthew Wilkinson last week.
“I’ll be dropping over to see you when the apples are ripe,” Minister for Arts Jimmy Deenihan told FitzGerald, who was looking forward to opening A Knight’s Tale, an exhibition of art by Jeremy Williams, the next evening.
Tom and Jane Somerville of Drishane House in Castletownshend brought along their two boys, Thomas and Hal. Thomas Denny travelled from Dorset and was representing his father, Anthony Denny. His family once owned Tralee Castle and Churchill House in Kerry. The latter is now owned by the businessman Fred Krehbiel.
