THE SOCIAL NETWORK:ean O'Sullivan of Dragons' Den told me that he is coming to terms with his new-found fame, at the launch of Asia Matters and a new Philippines tourism campaign, in the Embassy of the Philippines on Thursday evening on St Stephen's Green.
“After only eight reality television shows,” the Dragon said he was shocked to be “so ridiculously famous, especially after a lifetime of work creating great companies.”
In the Philippines, O’Sullivan would probably be known as a Bakunawa. It’s a dragon, in Filipino mythology, which liked to swallow the moon and cause an eclipse. On Thursday evening there was no eclipse, but there was a lot of rum being consumed. The theme for the evening was, “It’s more fun in the Philippines.”
Martin Murray, the executive director of Asia Matters, is hosting an inaugural EU Asia Top Economist Round Table at the Radisson Hotel in Golden Lane, Dublin on May 25th. Alan Dukes is going to chair it.
Dukes was chatting to the Charge d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Philippines, Hjayceelyn Quintana.
