DANCING AT THE CROSSROADS

The village of Clarecastle, outside Ennis in Co Clare, takes to its feet this week

with its Céilí at the Crossroads festival. Stages are set both indoors and outdoors, and a range of music classes is also on offer. Tonight, junior set-dancing classes take place at Abbey Hall from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. 065-6828876.

GLENDINEOREGAN WALK

You’ll need to be fit for this 13km loop through Co Laois, which takes in a mix of riverbanks, forest tracks and minor roads. Along the way you’ll pass through the village of Clonaslee, joining up with the Slieve Bloom Way and following the Clodiagh river. WATERFORD WALKING TOUR

Well-known local storyteller and award- winning tour guide Jack Burtchaell takes visitors on an hour-long walking tour of Waterford city. The twice-daily tour takes in two cathedrals and four national monuments, and promises to be delivered in a witty, entertaining style. CHOPIN WORKSHOP

Beginning tomorrow, a free animation workshop at the Digital Hub and the Irish Film Institute, in Dublin, will teach children about the music of Chopin (above). At the end they’ll make a short film with a Chopin soundtrack. Suitable for ages 10-13, the class runs until Saturday, from 10am to 5pm. E-mail amcgivern@irishfilm.ie.

EXHIBIT ME!

A range of visual-arts events takes place this summer at the Ark cultural centre in Dublin, allowing children to make and display work. This week participants have the chance to be creative with clay, working alongside the artist Terry O’Farrell. LADY OF THE LAKE FESTIVAL

This Co Fermanagh festival, which runs until Sunday, centres on the fable of a mysterious lady who is said to appear on Lower Lough Erne.
