Satire by storytellers: The first bank holiday of the year is almost upon us, and Storytellers Theatre Company's adaptation of The Crock of Gold is fitting for the season of St Patrick.
This performance of the James Stephens fable will provide an unusual take on our Irishness, looking at Ireland long before the Celtic Tiger got its hungry claws into the country. There are angry leprechauns, pagan gods and philosophers lurking within a mysterious forest, in the aftermath of the theft of a crock of gold. Like a pop-up story book, a spirited satire will unfold, marking the 20th anniversary of Storytellers' unique style. From Wednesday at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin (0818-719330), followed by a nationwide tour of 11 venues. See www.storytellerstheatrecompany.com for more details, and keep an eye on local press.
