LIVING ROOM At Arnotts the Ligne Roset "Citta" sofa is down from €2,736 to €2,325: a quality sofa in a style that won't date - worth buying, sale or no sale. Diamond Furniture's "Sophia" sofa and two armchairs was €1,599, now €799: standard, but a good price. Mobilia's suspended glass display shelving was originally €870, now €520: suitable for small artworks. Pia Bang's French chandeliers were €950, now €550. In Cork, have a 9"x6" vegetable- dyed, hand-tufted Pakistan carpet reduced from €2,300 to €1,840: a low price for a traditional carpet. Others of a similar size are down to €460.
DINING ROOM/KITCHEN has a neat four-door sideboard in dark wenge wood reduced from €658 to €449. It matches a dining table and four chairs in the same wood, down from €1,245 to €899. ID Design in Swords has the best deal on a small dining table we've found: a metal table with glass top and four black leather chairs is €299, down from €599. It could be good for a small apartment. On the other hand, Marble & Lemon in Cork has a large Eastern chunky tropical hardwood table for €600, originally €1,000. In Brown Thomas, find a simple 24-piece stainless steel cutlery set for €50, originally €100. There's also 50 per cent off Paul Costelloe tableware.
BEDROOM/BATHROOM Sales are the time to buy the very best bed linen and that's Frette at Bottom Drawer in Brown Thomas. There are 50 per cent discounts on discontinued ranges, so duvet covers that were €375 are now €187.50, and pillowcases that were €75, are now €39.50. Slouchie T-shirt fabric bed linen is also half price. At Arnotts, duck down double duvets are reduced from €255 to €127.50, and pillows from €50 to €28. At Home With Clery's in Blanchardstown has reduced a Sealy bed from €1,250 to €759. It has a latex layer, which means it shapes itself to body contours and then springs back to shape. Elegant John has a deal on a classic white sink, bath and w.c. for €795, which would normally be well over €1,000. Marks & Spencer has good reductions in towels: hand, €7, bath, €17 and extra large, €25, in any colour you fancy.
