Dan, Joon and Narciso, aka Tropical Storm, have been creating something of a stir at parties, weddings and corporate and charity events recently.

The trio, who perfected their serenading style in hotels and restaurants in the Philippines and Thailand, were brought to Ireland in 2003 by Class Act Promotions, an entertainment company. "We were looking for an act that would do multilingual entertainment for corporate events, and we came across them on a trip to Southeast Asia," says Amos McRedmond, who runs Class Act with his wife, Susan. Tropical Storm have wowed audiences at Electric Picnic, Dublin Horse Show, Galway Races and even the RTÉ newsroom's Christmas party. So what makes them so special?

"They are famous for their serenading roving style," says McRedmond. "They perform an all-acoustic set, starting with covers performed as background music. Then they move out around the room, doing requests, and part of the fun is that people are throwing songs at them, to try and trip them up. It could be Britney Spears, Queen, the Red Hot Chili Peppers or even Irish ballads, but they always know the song. They get people dancing and singing along or doing trains. People love it." Tropical Storm are resident each Thursday night at Roganstown Golf & Country Club, in Swords, Co Dublin. www.classactpromotions.ie.
