A fashion designer, actress and stylist reveal their shopping secrets.
Joanne Hynes, fashion designer
"I collect glass, and charity stores are great for unusual things. In Oxfam in Limerick I got a bowl with a circumferency in the shape of petals for €4 and in the Cancer Research Shop on Camden Street in Dublin a set of six yellow glass plates for €8, which I use to hold white candles. The pleasure of looking around these ships is finding something you don't expect - some days you see nothing, others something amazing."
Alexandra McGuinness, actress and writer
"I got lots of things for my home from ebay.com - from oriental-style rugs to rurniture. you place a bid, and if no one bids hihger, you get whatever it is. Things are very cheap and you find some great kitschy things."
Celestine Cooney, stylist Dazed & Confused magazine
"Oxfam Home on Francis Street, Dublin for things with character - they often have 1950s record players. The Pound Shop on Thomas Street is very big and good for kitchen stuff you don't want to spend a lot on - spatulas, pots and pans. there are some kitschy things, but plain white mugs and plates too, for 50 cent. Ikea in London is a wonderland for furniture - good quality and cheap."
