Who says recession bites? Opening on Monday in Dublin’s Powerscourt Centre is a new designer and vintage fashion rental boutique called Covet – The Borrower’s Boudoir. Brainchild of Suzanne Hourican, it’s a place, she says, “for luxurious lends”, an idea picked up from similar shops in the US.

The clothes have been selected from designers such as John Galliano, Roberto Cavalli and Diane Von Furstenburg, along with vintage finds and other pieces from international collections. The Covet team promise there will be only one of each piece, and that they will offer “head-to-toe styling advice for all your special occasion needs”. www.covet.ie. The vintage metallic gold Saks Fifth Avenue dress pictured above costs €125 to hire. Deirdre McQuillan.
